Another weekend passed and it was the Turkish Grand Prix. After last weekends race where neither of our cars finished we hope to score some points to keep our position as the number 1 band B team. In free practice 1 we were fast and both drivers finished in top 6. With Alonso in 3rd with a fastest lap of 01:36.234 and Ericsson a few places back in 6th with a fastest lap of 01:36.418. In the second practice session Alonso improved his practice 1 lap by .08 seconds but he dropped one place back to 4th. Ericsson on the other hand did not improve his fastest lap and drove .27 seconds slower and got 8th. In the final practice session Ericsson got 4th with a fastest lap of 01:36.624 while Alonso finshed 13th with a fastest lap of 01:37.357
In qualifying on Saturday both our drivers got into Q2 safely. But in Q2 it got closer with Ericsson going out in Q2 in 13th place after being held up during his final lap. Alonso got into Q3 for the 2nd time this season. He got 7th in Q3 with a time of 01:36.123 and + 00:00.447 of Hamilton who got pole.
On Sundays race Ericsson got off well from the start and overtaking Perez who got a teribble start. Soon after Ericsson makes a move on Maldonado for 10th. On lap 6 Ericsson overtakes Button in the drs zone for 9th. Meanwhile on lap 8 Bottas makes it past Alonso for 7th. On lap 9 we have Alonso in 8th and Ericsson 9th. On lap 15 Alonso pulled of to the side once again to retire this time from a engine problem. This moves Ericsson up to 8th. On lap 29 we hear Rosberg having some trouble with his car and has dropped of the pace quite a lot. On lap 30 its a easy pass for Ericsson for 5th. Felipe Nasr has been gunning from behind and on lap 40 catches up to Ericsson and Nasr makes his move on lap 41 for 5th place. Nothing else happend after Nasr move and Ericsson gets 6th. He finished 32seconds after the race leader Lewis Hamilton. This now means that Ericsson overtakes Alonso in the drivers championship and Sauber still keeps its number 1 band B place in the championship.
From all of us at Sauber have a good week and see you next weekend in Spain.
