We are back with our newspaper which will be posted after each race weekend to summarize our weekend. In round 3 of the championship we are in Bahrain, where Sauber got their first and only win so far in last seasons championship. The new lineup of Fernando Alonso and Marcus Ericsson got off to a decent practice 1 session where Alonso finished 18th with a time of 01:44.578, where as Ericsson finshed practice 1 in 21st with a time of 01:45.333. In practice 2 it was Ericsson who placed higher of the two Sauber drivers in 18th with a time of 01:44.700, and just behind him in 19th place was Alonso with a time of 01:44.736.
On Saturday we had practice 3 where Alonso finshed 18th again with a time of 01:44.666 and in 20th we got Ericsson with a time of 01:45.171. Another things noted in practice was that McLaren was last in every session and even scoring a fastest lap of 2 minutes in the final session. In qualifying Ericsson got off to a very good start finishing Q1 in 7th just 0.333 of 1st. Alonso also had a good Q1 in which he got 9th. In Q2 Alonso drove well but finished just outside Q3 and got 11th. Van de Garde from Lotus got a good lap right at the end to knock Alonso away from Q3. While Ericsson 16th. The quali pace was clearly there but we got the short straw this time.
On Sunday everyone had their coffee and their tea and were ready to race. Both our drivers got off the line well and both our drivers managed to keep their posistions. Until lap 7 when Rosberg got past Alonso for P11. It wasn't until lap 11 that something happend when Alonso cut in short and made contact with Nasr at turn 8. Nasr ended up right next to the barrier with some nasty front damage while Alonso made his way to the pits where he finally retired from a badly damaged rear. Ericsson fighted just outside the points for the whole race until lap 56 when had to retire from a hydraulic failure.
After round 3 we managed to keep our spot as the number 1 Band B team even thought we scored 0points in the race. We are looking forward to racing in Turkey next week.
