It was round 6 of the MF1 Championship and we were in Monaco. Practice took place on Friday and in practice 1 both our drivers had very good pace finishing 8th and 9th. In the 2nd practice session Alonso got 3rd with fastest time of 01:28.722 and Ericsson finishish in a solid 8th. On Saturdays first and final practice session we tried a different setup and our drivers finished 14th and 16th. McLaren and Wolf missed Fridays practice.
On Saturdays qualifying first of all every team managed to send in their coordinates. In Q1 both Alonso and Ericsson had blistering pace and got thru with more than half a second diffrence to Montoya who got 18th. In Q2 both Alonso and Ericsson dropped a little of their Q1 pace but some of it was due to traffic. But both drivers got into Q3 with Ericsson in 8th and Alonso in 10th. Once again we had both our drivers inside the top 10. In Q3 both drivers got into the top7 where Ericsson got 7th and Alonso is one row ahead in 5th.
On Sunday Wolf failed to submit their coordinates for the 2nd time this weekend. On the grid both drivers got off the line well and kept the places after the first few turns. On lap 8 Magnussen gets past Ericsson on the start/finish straight with the help of DRS for 7th, then later on in the lap Alonso overtakes Perez for 4th into the chicane. On lap 36 Ericsson gets a mechical failure and pulls to the side in sector 3. On lap 46 Maldonado and Grosjean crashed down at the chicane and we had our first red flag this season. During all of this a marshal was caught in the aftermath. Back to the race where Vettel jumped Bottas for the lead right after the restart and is quickly followed by Alonso who takes 2nd. It was a quite race for Alonso after that and took home his 3rd podium of the season.
After the race it was sadly confirmed that the track marshal passed away. Our condolences are with Keith's family.
