Round 7 took us to Canada where in practice we hade some struggles finishing 15th and 18th in practice 1 and an even more dissapointing practice 2 and 3 where we finished 21st and 22nd in practice 2 and 20th and 22nd in practice 3.
In qualifying it went a bit better where both Alonso and Ericsson made it out of Q1. Then in Q2 we faced some trouble and didn't get further than that. Alonso qualified in 13th and Ericsson is just behind him in 14th.
On race day we were hoping to get something out of this weekend. Sunday started with Toro Rosso missing to send in their coordinates in time. Alonso got off the line well and overtook both Montoya and Perez on the first lap taking him to 11th. On lap 5 Hamilton retires which brings Alonso to 10th and just after that Alonso overtakes Van der Garde for 9th. On lap 14 Alonso continues his charge up the field by overtaking Maldonado for 8th. In the same lap Ericsson gets passed Perez for 11th after Perez locked up at turn 11. Ericsson then overtakes Van der Garde on the start/finish straight for 10th. Then on lap 21 Maldonado loses his car at the chikane which promotes Ericsson to 9th. Lap 28 Alonso gets passed Button at the chikane. Lap 32 Vettel and Ricciardo make contact which takes both of them out of the race. This incident takes Alonso to 5th and Ericsson to 7th. Then on lap 40 Button retired which took Ericsson to 6th. Alonso had been gunning for Massa for a couple of laps already but on lap 54 Alonso makes his move down in turn 9 and it works. Then on lap 65 van der Garde gets passed Ericsson with the help of DRS.
After a dissapointing Friday and Saturday, Alonso and Ericsson showed up on Sunday to get 4th and 7th respectively.
